“Following the example set by Jesus, baptism initiates an individual into the Christian Community and confers sanctifying grace upon a soul, purifying it with water and sealing it with holy chrism. If you or your child woul like to begin your Christian life as part of our community please contact us and let them know.

Please fill out the baptismal application form on the next screen. After the form is complete, please press the “Save” button one time. Please do not press the “Save” button more than one time as it will create a duplicate of your application. Even though your information will remain on the screen, we have received your application. Our staff will email you a confirmation of your registration within 24 hours.

Baptism Requirements

1. The child being baptized must be under the age of 7.

2. Godparents must be over 18 years old, Catholic, and have all 3 sacraments: Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. If the godparents are a couple, they must be married by the Catholic Church.

3. The parents of the child are responsible for verifying that the godparents have complied with the aforementioned requirements. 

4. You can only have up to TWO godparents. A Man and a Woman.

5. If one of the parents will not be present at the baptism:

  • A notarized letter is required of the absent parent giving his consent or
  • The parent who baptizes the child can sign a letter notarized assuming full responsibility for baptizing the child without the other parent being present.
  • If one parent was awarded full legal custody (not joint custody or guardianship), all court documents must be provided prior to finalizing registration.

6. You must register online on our website: www.laplacita.org. Once you have registered, please call our office to schedule your ceremony.

7. You will need to provide the following original documents:

  • Child’s birth certificate or
  • Hospital birth verification (accepted only if child is less than 6 months old)
  • Identification of each parent and godparent (must contain their name, photograph and date of birth).

8. At our community ceremonies, you will not be allowed to take pictures or record while the ceremony is carried out in accordance with the State Law for the Protection of Minors. Professional photographers and/or videographers are not allowed at community ceremonies. (California Civil Code Section 1708.8)

9. We also offer private ceremonies where you can bring family and friends, take photos and record the ceremony.

10. Parents and godparents must watch the pre-baptismal videos in order to be able to baptize.

FIRST COMMUNION

It’s a joy to present the program for the preparation of the Sacrament of First Communion which involves parents and educators in the faith of their children. Family catechesis is the introduction to Eucharistic life who want to live with plentitude their meet and friendship with Jesus Christ.

CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
First Communion (Ages 7-13)

Registration: July 1, 2025
Duration: 1 year
Class Days: Tuesday from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM and Sunday during the 10:00 AM Mass
Requirements: Birth Certificate & Baptism Certificate
Parents must attend all classes with their children and participate in Sunday Mass as a family.

CLASSES FOR TEENS
Confirmation & First Communion (Ages 14-17)

Registration: July 1, 2025
Duration: 1-2 years

confirmation

We offer the Sacrament of Confirmation program for youth 14-17 years. During the Mass, the youth participate as ushers in the collection. They also do 25 hours of community service. The program prepares candidates in their catechism and faith experiences that help young people become closer to Christ. The Youth Day is to be held in the city of Anaheim, California.

50% cash deposit is required to secure a spot in the class along with the necessary documents:

Penance

Jesus announces the liberating mercy of God to those in its path, starting with the poor, the marginalized, and the sinners, and invites them to follow him.

Confession Times:

Friday: 3PM-4PM

Monday and Thursday:

9AM – 12:30PM and 2:30PM-3:30PM

Marriage

“What God has joined no man put asunder”  the Parish drilling program for marriage is based on the desire for marriage to last a lifetime. Initially the couple offers a kerygma for every couple first have a personal encounter with Christ, and base their faith as an indispensable element in married life.
Weekly course where human values are emphasized both in theorethical and practical aspect of the life of the couple is offered. Homework assigments are given at home to assess progress and check if you value the sacramental life. Finally it is highlighted, the ceremony and importance of immediate preparation. A follow-up is given to the couple in continuous training.

It is our joy to welcome you and to be part of your lives as you prepare for this Sacrament of loving commitment. To help facilitate your preparation, we have prepared this information for you.

Requirements for the sacrament of marriage
  • Original birth certificate
  • Recent baptism certificates of the groom and bride with notations (recent copy obtained within the last six months)
  • First communion and confirmation certificate
  • Pre marriage classes (the priest will give you a list of dates and places where you can take these classes)
  • Testimony of two family members or acquaintances over 18 years of age for both the bride and groom
  • Pre marriage investigation
  • The groom and the bride respond to a questionnaire where they declare that there is no impediment to getting married.
  • People who were previously married civilly or by church must notify the priest in the interview and he will indicate the process to follow.

Admonitions: your wedding is announced in the parish bulletin, for three consecutive sundays.

Donation: the donation of the mass is $750.00. you must leave a deposit of $400.00 to reserve the day. (not refundable if you cancel)

Civil marriage:  If the couple has not been married civilly, they can marry civilly in a religious ceremony. You should purchase a license from the following places:

PRIESTLY ORDER

The three priests who work in the parish; Rev. Arturo and Rev. Jesús, are convinced that the priestly vocation is valuable and they are proud of their ministry. “We promote vocations primarily through our work and sincere example in pastoral activities that we do”. Requests are made in Sunday Masses for vocations and has retreats with young people to discern their vocation. The youth survey is to identify potential candidates for the priesthood and religious life for both men and women. We connect potential candidates with directors of vocations in the diocese. We invite potential candidates to actively participate in social activities, liturgical and pastoral evangelization for an overview of the life of the Church and its activities is taken.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

God has established a sacrament for healing in illness (both physical and spiritual) and preparation for death and entrance into new life in heaven. If you or a loved one is sick or dying and would like to receive special sacramental prayers and anointing, please contact us and be assured of our prayers with you and for you in this time.
